Make-Up talk

I love make-up and I can spend a lot of time at cosmetic counters checking out the products. Today I wanted to share with you my favourite products that I always reach out for:

  1. Too Faced Powder brush – the softest brush I own! It gives great application & doesn’t shed.
  2. Estee Lauder Double Wear Foundation –this has been my favourite foundation for years and it is perfect for days when you need a good coverage.
  3. Estee lauder Invisible Fluid Make-up – this one is perfect for summer; it’s super lightweight.
  4. Illamasqua Blush ‘’Lover’’ – my perfect summer blusher ;-) it has a rich pigment and you need only a tiny bit (it will last you for ages!!)
  5. Benefit Blush ‘’Coralista’’ – another favourite blusher that really suits my skin tone and perks up my complexion.
  6. Bobbi Brown Rich Lipglosses – LOVE!
  7. Daniel Sandler Bronzer – perfect bronzer for summer to enhance my tan.
  8. DDF Lighweight cream – this is a fantastic moisturiser.
  9. Maybelline Color Tattoo 24hr Eye shadows – these are GREAT! I use them almost daily; they are so easy to apply and really have a fab staying power. I use them even as a base for other eye shadows.
  10. Le Volume De Chanel mascara – this is fab mascara although it depends on how you apply it – it might be a bit clumpy.
  11. Revlon Photoready mascara – love this one too! Other favourites throughout the years have been Maybelinne Volume, Max factor 2000, Max factor Masterpiece (this is great for separating lashes).
  12. Illamasqua nail Polishes – good staying power and I love the range of colours.

On another note, I have always wanted to blog about things that I like however I will make an exception this time because there are products that I bought into for the hype and they didn’t live up to it (in my case):

  1. Laura Mercier Camouflage – I personally find this too rich and heavy, and on occasions it can make the imperfections stand out rather than mask them. Let’s just say that I haven’t found the right way to apply it…
  2. Elizabeth Arden 8 Hour Cream - have tried this and even though I can live with the medical smell of this cream, I don’t really see what are the benefits. I have read that some people use it even on their face overnight but I find it extremely rich & greasy.
  3. L’occitane Shea Butter hand cream – mega hyped but I don’t see it any superior than other hand creams. It is good but I am still on the lookout for the perfect one! Suggestions are welcomed!
Mac Strobe Cream would of ended up on this list too if I finally hadn’t found a way to use it ;-) I mix it with heavier foundation to thin it out and as a result it gives you that dewy look. Until then I found this product pretty pointless.

Now, please tell if you've had a ny dissapointing experiences with over-hyped cosmetic products??

  1. I loved reading thise post, honey - first of all, because your make-up always looks beautiful and I've bee quite curious about some of the products you used :) And also because, as is always the case, all of my products seem to be running out at the same time so I'm looking to pretty much redo my whole make-up and a few good tips never hurt! Based on the fact that I just said all of my beauty products are running out, you can probably guess I don't buy cosmetics very often :) Most of my disappointments have come in the form of mascara, although one product that really doesn't live up to the hype for me is YSL Touche Eclat. I have very dark circles under my eyes and instead of concealing them, it just makes them standout and look bright! Such a disappointment.

    1. i love it when i have a reason to buy a new product but hate it when they are all running out at the same time :-) it has happened to me before. yeah, i was curious to try out the YSL Touche Eclat but never went ahead with it as i don't really have dark circles, so i would of used it only to lighten out the under eye area. knowing your experience i probably won't rush to buy it! :)

  2. They look great!! I'm not a very "cosmetic addict" girl: during the summer I don't wear make up, just a little bit of rimmel and a bit more.
    Have a nice day!!

  3. I've always wanted to try Elizabeth Arden's 8 Hour Cream and have heard nothing but good things so it's refreshing to finally hear someone not rave about it, lol. The smell doesn't sound appealing either. I recently bought that Chanel mascara after getting a sample and being so impressed with. I love it!

  6. Always love seeing what other peoples' favourite cosmetics are... being a beauty blogger, I'm a bit of a product junkie ;) One of the products that didn't live up to the hype for me was NARS Orgasm blush. It's super pretty but I personally think NARS has some better blushes that are more underrated.

    1. i agree with you, Alison, i have a blush from Nars ''Deep Throat'' and think it's lovelier on the skin than probably ''Orgasm'' :)

  7. Thanks for sharing. I always find other bloggers' makeup interesting. Always looking for new things to try too. I've used Estee Lauder Double Wear before. It's one of my go-to foundations. It's thick, but offers the BEST coverage.

  9. Briniskigs posts. Neesmu liela make-up pirceja, bet vienmer patik paskatities, gan youtube beauty guru rekomendacija, gan no zinamiem blogeriem dzirdet. Estee Lauder Double Wear Foundation nav prieks manis, par smagu un sakairinaja adu. Max Factor tusas patik. Benefit blush iepakojumi loti nepatik, manuprat loti nepraktiski gan celojot, gan ar otinu darbojoties, varbut es tikai atrodu iemeslu :), bet man liekas, ka tomer vareja pardomat savadak.Laikam tiesi tas mani attur iegadaties. Es pieturos pie zinamam lietam un loti reti eksperimenteju. Loti patik YSL Touche Éclat Foundation finish, bet noturibas zina vins pieklibo manam milajam Rimmel Wake Me Up Faundation, to jau kuro reizi noperku. Ja kaut ko atrodu kas patik tad pieturos. Nja, ne vienmer tie kulta produkti visiem der, jo tomer esam tik individuali un tur jau ir tas skaistums :)
